RE: Towing a Jeep Wrangler on a Tow Dolly?

I believe I will get a friend to build a longer tow bar system. That might just be the ticket I'm looking for. Maybe a foot longer would be a big difference.

Towing a Jeep Wrangler on a Tow Dolly?

I have flat towed my Jeep TJ, but I'm thinking about getting a car dolly to tow it on, since I tow it behind the 5er I think it would be a little smoother on the bumps. It tows great behind the 5er on the smoother terrain, but when the quick swells in the road come along, the pivot point (distance between the 5er axles and the rear of the 5er) make the short tow bar react roughly, causing a quick jarring sensation.
I was wondering about the car dolly and how the Jeep's 4wd system would be with two wheels up. I know that when towing 4 down, the tranny goes in gear and the TC goes in neutral. I just want to know that it's safe for the drive train to pull half up and half down.

RE: Carrier on Backend for generator

I built a receiver under the back of my KZ-New Vision. I use a cargo carrier. I really don't like the bounce I get with that 150# back there, so most of the time, I just put it in the back of the TV, then I just run a 30 amp cord from the front of the 5er (built in genny receiver) to the bed of the truck and use it that way.

RE: why do day/night shades get such a bad rap?

I'm knocking on wood as I type this, but we have a 2005 and so far, no problems the our day/night shades. Much better than those noisy mini blinds in our first TT.

RE: This Flying J ..Nasty..Nasty

i have to reply to this one. flying j are truckstops.
rv ers think they should change every thing for them
trouble with the world to day. i drove truck and have
a class a. just had to vent.
A business is a business and if that business was only for trucks, they wouldn't have RV or automobile stations. They want all of the business they can get. Just because something is labeled as a truck stop doesn't mean it's just for trucks. Cracker Barrel doesn't mean that they only sell crackers! It's just a name to make sure the truckers know that they can get in and out very easily and if they choose, can wash the stink off of them in the showers. Not many truckers are going to pull into a "Love's Gas Station".
BTW...you are on an RV forum, not a truckers' forum. And what else are you trying to say? That truckers are nasty and really don't care? Hmmmmmmm So the Flying J's should not try to keep their business clean since it's just old truckers that patronize?

RE: Directv Election Night Coverage

I've been stressing over that mess for 6 months now. I've voted and now I've decided to give it up until I wake up tomorrow morning. I don't think I need to watch every vote being counted.

My 2005 Awning is Sticking.

I have some trouble retracting my awning. It doesn't want to spring back in easily. I end up having to push the end rails and let the awning roll up rather than hold the strap to keep it from slamming shut like it did when it was new. I'm not sure what kind of maintenance is required to get it back to rolling up from the loaded spring. Got answers? Thanks, in advance.

RE: Fundy nat. park, lots of empty CS = $$

Let em go dry. I'll never visit a place for that kind of money. It just doesn't make sense to have a price so high that most of your facilities are not used. Good grief, even the hotels/motels have enough sense to have a back up with something like priceline.com or whatever those other bidding programs are. A little bit of something is better than a lot of nothing!

RE: GAS SHORTAGE

They are probably using that for a masked way of keeping the price high although the PPB has come down significantly.

I really like my KZ product. I know why they are more than some, but just my opinion. I would definitely buy another.

RE: YEA!! Darn dog 'strollers' banned!

Good heavens, such venom! Why on earth does it hurt the children to go on one night to speak to Santa, instead of another? It is right and proper to teach them to share, is it not? And if your animals stink, please wash them! Mine certainly do not. I do find, though, that pet store Santas are generally more comfortable with dogs and easier to get a good picture with. Plus the proceeds generally go to animal related charities, so its all good.
Santa in a store got started because people have gotten so crazy with their pets. They used to be little companions that you took for a walk and brushed and bathed every once in a while. Even let it lick you a time or two, but now days, people tend to treat them like they are "people". The strollers are another evidence of that. The Santa is another crazy trend.
In a "Pet Store", fine! In an shopping mall, it's rediculous. Kids should not have to "share" Santa with an animal that would probably rather be stroked by it's owner than some clown in a red suit. You would be upset if you took your dogs or cats across town, to a "pet store" where they had a Santa available for pics, and you couldn't get time with the doggie santa because parents were lined up to allow their kids to sit in the doggie Santa's lap. A time and a place for everything. BTW... no venom. Just stating my opinion about that issue that seems to be more and more common as this "political correct" society becomes more and more "creative" with ways to put animal above humans.

RE: Flag Poles (where to buy)

I just got mine at Poles and Holders Great customer service and speedy delivery. I made my own mount for a 2" receiver hitch. It is made for the hitch on the back of the 5er. I was just trying it out at home in these pics.
Those mentioned in the previous posts are totally over priced! Mine is a 22' telescoping fiberglass with lifetime warranty for under $65.00, shipped to me door. They also include a 3 x 5 flag. It retracts to about 50".

If you get a loud gennie, you probably won't be able to hear the loud gennie in your neighbor's Class A motorhome.

RE: YEA!! Darn dog 'strollers' banned!

Now if they would stop allowing people to bring their dogs and cats to sit and Santa's lap during Christmas time. That is another rediculous happening. I hate it for the children that are standing around wanting to sit in Santa's lap, but certain nights are dedicated to the animals so the kids are put on hold. Good grief. Santa was created for the kids.
